The goal of the workshop is to introduce the concepts that underlie the Free Software and the various benefits that this technology can offer. The workshop will begin with an introduction to Free Software, with historical notes and a chronological journey in which we outline the crucial steps that led to the development and evolution of Free Software, both from the philosophical to the technical. There will also be a session open installation, during which we will give “assistance” to all users who want to install free software on their machines. During the last two stages will provide participants with practical examples on many different applications, the software commonly used in the more advanced.
