Carmine De Rosa | Delta Sphere

category:
schermata6_1000x600

Delta sphere is an interactive application built using materials and infrastructure hardware and software easily available and at low cost.

The purpose of the installation is to demonstrate how even without the aid of expensive machinery or equipment and with a little creativity you can create an interactive application.
This is due to the recovery of old PCs and other materials, the use of open source software (Linux, C, OpenGL, SDL), and some basic principles of electronics.

Touching lightly the capacitive controller (the sphere) are activated sensors that produce audio-visual effects.

The controller works with the same principle of the touch screen of a modern smartphone; the human body is seen as a huge capacitor: bringing the hand to the sensor, without that there is a direct contact, the difference in capacity (hence the name Delta sphere) between the capacitor on the circuit and that of the human body activates the sensor.

The audio-visual effects are created by an application written in C for GNU / Linux that uses the libraries OpenSource OpenGL and SDL.
