Quiet Ensemble

Natura morta è un vero e proprio concerto dove gli unici strumenti musicali utilizzati sono dei frutti e a suonare è esclusivamente l’energia elettrica contenuta al loro interno.
Tre musicisti/performers con il semplice contatto fisico con i frutti generano l’intera composizione musicale. Ogni frutto contiene dell’acido che produce microtensioni elettriche, con l’utilizzo di una particolare tecnica possiamo amplificare queste frequenze rendendo così udibile l’inudibile; il suono dell’energia vitale della natura..
I singoli frutti sono poggiati su diverse piattaforme in legno con base in plexiglass retroilluminate, ogni piattaforma è un controller midi che per¬mette di modulare l’onda sonora dei frutti generando ritmiche e suoni complessi.
Quando il frutto suona la sua base ten¬derà alla luce, rendendo così mutevole lo spazio circostante. Le diverse frequenze sonore verranno enfatizzate da una grande videoproiezione di una macro visione dei frutti disposti sul tavolo, lentamente le immagini da concrete si trasformano in astratte, la Natura Morta muta in base ad una precisa reazione all’audio (sound-react) si frantuma e muta in pure immagini di luce e colore.

“Natura Morta” is a musical concert where the only instruments used are real fruits and the sound we’ll hear is exclusively the electric energy contained within them.
The elettric power of the humans getting mixed with the energy of the fruits makes the sound audible, is the fisical contact between human and nature that generate the music.
Each fruit has acid in it that produces electrical tension, using a special technique we can boost these frequencies making the inaudible audible, the sound of the vital energy of nature.
The individual fruits are raised on wooden platforms, standing on a transparent plexiglass plate lit from under. Each time a fruit plays its base will lit up, staining the surrounding space, making it changeable and dinamic. Each platform is a home made midi controller which allow us to modulate the sound wave’s, creating more complex rhythms and sounds.
The sound frequencies are emphasized by a large videoprojection representing a macro vision of the fruits.
Slowly the concrete images becomes abstract, the Natura morta (Still life) picture changes reacting precisely to the sound vawes,
crashing and dissolving into pure shapes of colors and lights.

Quiet Ensemble nasce nel 2009 dall’incontro tra esperienze professionali ed espressive differenti.
Fabio Di Salvo si dedica alla sperimentazione e l’ideazione di opere video interattive utilizzando moderni software di manipolazione audiovideo.

Bernardo Vercelli si laurea in scenografia teatrale in Norvegia e successivamente lavora come light designer a Copenhagen, Danimarca.
Insieme sviluppano un interesse rivolto alla contaminazione di modalità espressive differenti osservando il rapporto tra tecnologia e natura, l’unione tra l’immaginario concreto ed astratto e l’equilibrio tra casualità e controllo, dando vita a soggetti composti dal perfetto connubio degli elementi, spostando l’attenzione su aspetti insignificanti e meravigliosi, come il movimento di una mosca o il suono degli alberi. Parallelamente l’interesse si allaccia a quel settore di nuove tecnologie che esplorano le possibilità estetiche e concettuali derivanti dalle tecniche dell’interattività, lavorando al rapporto tra l’immagine e il suono, studiato esclusivamente in relazione ad un ambiente specifico – site specific, con l’obiettivo di rivelare luoghi comuni attraverso punti di vista differenti.

Quiet Ensemble was founded in 2009 by the encounter between different professional experiences and expressive.
Fabio Di Salvo is dedicated to experimentation and the creation of works using modern interactive audio-video manipulation software.
Bernardo Vercelli degree in theatrical scenery in Norway and later worked as a lighting designer in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Together develop an interest addressed to the contamination of different modes of expression by looking at the relationship between technology and nature, the unity between the concrete and abstract imagery and the balance between randomness and control, creating a perfect combination of subject compounds by the elements, moving attention to insignificant and wonderful aspects like the movement of a fly or the sound of the trees.
In parallel, the interest is tied to that sector of new technologies that explores the aesthetic possibilities arising from the techniques and concepts of interactivity, working for relationship between the image and sound, designed exclusively in relation to a specific environment “site specific”, with the aim of revealing common places through different points of view.
