Alex Smoke appartiene alla nuova scena dei produttori di musica elettronica.
Sebbene la sua musica sia fatta per il dancefloor, rinomati i suoi set dal vivo, essa risuona molto oltre. Con uno stile di produzione tratto da una miriade di influenze che confondono i confini tra musica elettronica, techno, classica e hip hop, la musica di Alex Smoke si evolve in direzioni nuove. Musicalmente sempre appagante, in ogni nuovo progetto si impegna indipendentemente dal genere preferito da chi ascolta.

Questo anno Alex Smoke arriva a Flussi con un nuovo lavoro musicale: “Wraetlic”, in anteprima nazionale. Con l’imminente rilascio dell’omonimo album su Convex nel mese di settembre, Alex ha creato un’oscura odissea pop fatta di voci, r&b e intrepidi sviluppi di synth. Il nome Wraetlic deriva dal termine anglosassone “wraith-like” (come-uno-spettro), che a sua volta significa “fantasma” o “etereo”. Ispirato dai progressi del filone post-dubstep, ha creato una collezione molto personale, che distribuisce la sue voci perfettamente per riflettere i temi dell’isolamento e del distacco dalla società che pervadono la sua opera. Il concetto di liveset, per Wraetlic, incorpora splendidi visuals creati su misura da Project Arch (Giappone), che Alex manipola dal vivo da un secondo laptop. La sua voce dal vivo è al centro di una performance che fornisce un perfetto connubio di taglio grafico all’avanguardia ed elevazione sonora.

While his music may reside on the dancefloor along with his renowned live sets, it also resonates so much further than this. With a production style drawn from a myriad of influences that blur the boundaries between electronica, techno, classical and hip hop, Alex Smoke’s music evolves in new directions with every new project he undertakes, musically consistently fulfilling, regardless of the listener’s preferred genre. It didn’t take long.

This year Alex Smoke comes to Flussi with a new musical undertaking in the form of Wraetlic, first time in Italy.
With the imminent release of the self-titled album on Convex Industries in September, Alex has crafted a vocal-driven dark pop odyssey of skuzzy r+b and intrepid cyber synth developments. The name Wraetlic is derived from the Anglo-Saxon term ‘wraith-like’ which in turn means ghostly or ethereal. Inspired by the post dubstep advancements of the underground, he has created a deeply personal collection that deploy his vocals perfectly to reflect the themes of isolation and detachment from society that pervade his work. The live concept for Wraetlic incorporates stunning bespoke visuals from Japan’s Arch Project which Alex manipulates from a second laptop. His own live vocals are central to a performance which provides a perfect marriage of cutting edge visuals and sonic elevation.
