La performance si ispira a tre elementi singolari nella vita di Cage: i funghi, il gioco degli scacchi, I-Ching, che oltre ad essere parte dell’allestimento scenico, costituiscono le variabili dell’evolversi degli eventi. La performance è da intendersi come un happening, un processo creativo, dove gli accadimenti in scena dipendono dalla trama delle varie azioni che si intersecano l’un l’altra, creando tutte le volte un risultato indeterminato.

Altro aspetto rilevante della poetica di Cage sul quale l’opera si sofferma, è il rumore in quanto elemento sonoro che crea la realtà. In Cage Not Cage la danza si fa suono e la musica crea il corpo. Due musicisti elaboreranno il tessuto sonoro ottenuto sia dalla microfonazione della scena, sia da riprese webcam interfacciate con un mapping sonoro, in modo che la sorgente audio sia prodotta dall’azione dei performer, a loro volta stimolati interattivamente dalla musica creata in tempo reale

The performance is based on three peculiar elements in John Cage’s life: mushrooms, chess, I-Ching, which beyond being part of the stage, are the variables of the events evolution. The performance is such an a happening, a creative process, where the events on stage depends on the texture of the actions that intersect each other creating an indeterminate result.

Another relevant aspect of the Cage’s poetic upon which the work focuses is the noise as a sound element that creates reality. InCage Not Cage the dance becomes sound and music creates the body. Two musicians process the sound texture obtained both by the stage miking and from some webcam shooting interfaced with a sound mapping so that the audio source is produced by the action of the performers that are in turn interactively stimulated by the real time processed music.

Carlo Fatigoni è uno scultore e un videosound artist nato a Perugia nel 1960. Ha collaborato negli ultimi anni con fotografi, danzatori, poeti, musicisti, critici e curatori producendo video, suono e installazioni. E’ inoltre l’organizzatore di eventi quali “Blog on Rimbaud” a Milano e Torino, “One Image Portrait” a Cortona, in Toscana ed ha fatto nascere nel 2004 “Sguardi Sonori” Festival of Media and Time Based Art. Nel 2011, insieme al sound designer Alessandro Petrolati, da origine alla “Ur.L.O – Urbino Laptop Orchestra”.

Elena Angeli è una danzatrice nata ad Orvieto nel 1975. Inizia la propria ricerca personale nel 1993, studiando l’approccio alla danza di varie discipline: classica, contemporanea, tantriche, contact improvisation e psicomotricità funzionale. Studiosa di archeologia, si interessa alla ricerca delle origini della danza, creando delle performance appositamente per alcuni siti archeologici.

Alessandro Pintus è danzatore, coreografo e docente nato a Roma nel 1972. Fa parte della prima generazione di danzatori Butoh italiani. Inizia ad interessarsi alla danza Butoh nel ‘96, come evoluzione di una sentita ricerca teatrale. Studia in Europa e Giappone dove si è recato più volte, lavorando con gli insegnanti più rappresentativi: Ko Murobushi, Masaki Iwana, Min Tanaka, Kazuo e Yoshito Ohno, Akira Kasai.

Alessandro Petrolati (nato a Cagli nel 1974) è diplomato in Pianoforte e in Musica Elettronica al Conservatorio G. Rossini di Pesaro. Con la composizione “Turn Around” è stato premiato con la menzione d’onore al ‘XXIII Concorso Internazionale Luigi Russolo’. Autore del processore software Granular Synthesis DensityGSC e del Sound Kit AudioDrome scritto in C++ (Venezia XVII CIM 2008), insegna Sound Design all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Urbino e all’Università degli Studi di Macerata.

In 2011 with the sound designer Alessandro Petrolati, gives rise to “Ur.LO – Urbino Laptop Orchestra”.

Elena Angeli is a dancer born in Orvieto in 1975. She starts her own research in 1993, studying the dance approach in various disciplines: classical, contemporary, tantric, contact improvisation and functional psychomotricity. As a student of archeology she is interested in researching the origins of the dance, creating performance specially set up for archaeological sites.

Alessandro Pintus is a dancer, choreographer and teacher born in Rome in 1972. He took part in the first generation of Italian Butoh dancers. He becames interested in Butoh dance in ’96 as the evolution of a fervent theater research. He studied in Europe and Japan where he went several times, working with the more representative teachers: Ko Murobushi Ko, Masaki Iwana, Min Tanaka, Kazuo and Yoshito Ohno, Akira Kasai.

Alessandro Petrolati (born in Cagl, 1974) graduated in Piano and electronic music at the Conservatorio G. Rossini in Pesaro. With the composition “Turn Around” he was awarded with the honorable mention at ‘23°International Competition Luigi Russolo ‘. He i salso the author of the software processor Granular Synthesis DensityGSC and of the Audiodrome Sound Kit compiled in C++ (Venice XVII CIM 2008) and teaches Sound Design at Accademia di Belle Arti of Urbino e at the University of Macerata.
