Scoperti da Steve Reid e presi sotto l’ala protettrice da Four Tet, hanno pubblicato l’album “You Reflect Me” (2008 – Trace Rec.), l’EP “Matthew and Toby” (2010 – Text Records) ed ultimo in ordine di tempo “Lone Raver” (2011 – Soul Jazz Rec.) lavori che hanno catturato l’ammirazione di nomi come Radiohead, Caribou, James Holden e Natan Fake, Gilles Peterson (BBC1).
Ora sono all’opera per ultimare il loro nuovo album con uscita prevista in Autunno 2012.
“Rocketnumbernine hanno fatto un tour nel Regno Unito con me all’inizio di quest’anno; suonavano questa traccia ogni notte e ogni notte le prestazioni erano sempre più intense. Alla fine del tour ho capito che dovevamo andare in studio di registrazione e registrare ‘Matteo e Toby’. Abbiamo registrato tutto in analogico per ottenere il giusto suono e se si compra questo in vinile si ascolterà una registrazione che non ha mai raggiunto un computer, che credo sia il modo in cui deve essere fatto a volte. Ho fatto un remix per il b-side: più che una versione club! Ho scoperto Rocketnumbernine attraverso Steve Reid, che era grande amico con il batterista della band Tom e si può sentire l’influenza e lo spirito di Steve in questa musica, senza dubbio. Steve è morto solo un paio di settimane prima che abbiamo fatto questo disco e lo abbiamo dedicato alla sua memoria “-. Kieran Hebden (Four Tet).

Discovered by Steve Reid , they have finally captured their unmistakably intense sound, putting it down to tape in one take for Kieran Hebden’s (Four Tet) Text imprint and are beginning to reach people everywhere. They released the album “You Reflect Me” (2008 – Trace Rec)), the EP “Matthew and Toby” (2010 – Text Records) and last in order of time “Lone Raver” (2011 – Soul Jazz Rec). Having recently toured with Radiohead, Four Tet, Caribou, James Holden and Nathan Fake, they’re proving to be as comfortable in a club environment as they are in a more traditional gig setting.
“Rocketnumbernine toured the UK with me earlier this year and they were playing this track every night. Each night the performances were getting more and more intense and blowing mine and the crowds minds. By the end of the tour I knew we had to go into the studio and get a great recording made of ‘Matthew and Toby’. We recorded all analogue to get the sound right and if you buy this on vinyl you will have a recording that has never touched a computer, which I think is the way it needs to be done sometimes. I’ve done a remix for the b-side… more of a club version. I discovered Rocketnumbernine through Steve Reid who was great friends with the drummer from the band, Tom Page, and you can hear Steve’s influence and spirit in this music without doubt. Steve passed away just a couple of weeks before we made this recording and we have dedicated it to his memory.” – Kieran Hebden (Four Tet).
