Xubuxue
Tre musicisti con strumenti e monitor, un autore visivo ed il pubblico seduto ad ascoltare mentre vede suggestive macchie di luce ed ombra che guidano l’improvvisazione: questo e il cuore di Xubuxue. Lo scopo di questo progetto dalle molteplici prospettive è esplorare diversi livelli di percezione, sperimentando non solo una profonda interazione tra musica e immagini ma anche un nuovo rapporto tra esecutori e pubblico.
Elliptical è costituito da musica improvvisata sulla base di fotopartiture create da Pietro D’Agostino e Marco Ariano, visibili sia agli esecutori che al pubblico. Lo schermo è diviso da una skyline, una linea che ha colori diversi per ogni movimento dell’opera: dal basso tre flussi di suggestive immagini catturano il pubblico e ispirano agli artisti diverse tecniche di esecuzione; dall’alto, flussi speculari di immagini mostrano cosa dobbiamo attenderci in seguito. In questa atmosfera sognante, presente e futuro si fondono intorno alla linea di orizzonte, che serve da punto di riferimento per lo spazio e il tempo, ed è l’unica cosa che rimane sullo schermo alla fine di ogni sezione.

Three musicians with instruments and monitors, a visual artist and the audience sitting and listening as long as they watch suggestive spotlights and shadow that lead the improvisation: this is the heart of Xubuxue. The aim of this multifaceted project is the exploration of multiple levels of perception, experiencing not only a profound interaction between sounds and images but also a new relationship between the performers and the audience.

Xubuxue è composto da:
Pietro D’Agostino Segue un corso di fotografia presso l’Istituto Europeo di Design di Roma nel 1980. Nel 1998, insieme a Nicola Forenza e Alessandro Vescovo, danno inizio al progetto del gruppo Pan-ikon. Con i musicisti Marco Ariano, Elio Martusciello, Gianfranco Tedeschi forma nel 2009 gli Xubuxue pubblicando nel 2010, attraverso l’etichetta discografica Die Schachtel, un cd-dvd dal titolo Elliptical fotopartiture per tre improvvisatori.
Elio Martusciello è un musicista e compositore italiano autodidatta, di musica sperimentale e insegna musica elettronica al Conservatorio di Cagliari. La sua estetica musicale deriva essenzialmente dall’arte acusmatica, ma oltre alla composizione acusmatica egli compone per strumenti e live electronics. Opera inoltre nell’ambito dell’installazione d’arte, dei multimedia, delle arti visive e dell’improvvisazione elettroacustica.
Marco Ariano è un batterista/percussionista, compositore di musica improvvisata, artista audiovisivo, poeta. Sperimenta scritture poetico-scenico-sonore ed elabora dispositivi/strategie di produzione musicale. Fondatore/co-fondatore di gruppi legati a pratiche improvvisative eterogenee come Lenguefoco, Zeriletico, Opera Mutica, Dal Due, Xubuxue. Partecipa a rassegne e festival in Italia e all’estero (Francia, Germania, Belgio, Austria, Spagna, Portogallo, UK, Turchia, Argentina, Messico).
Gianfranco Tedeschi si è diplomato in contrabbasso con G. Pani. Ha studiato analisi e composizione con B. Porena con il quale ha collaborato nel suo centro di ricerca e sperimentazione. Ha studiato arrangiamento orchestrale con G. Gazzani. Nel corso della sua carriera ha suonato generi molto diversi collaborando a numerosi progetti con musicisti italiani e stranieri.

Xubuxue members are
Pietro D’Agostino attended a photography course at the IED (European Institute of Design) in Rome in 1980. In 1998 with Nicola Forenz and Alessandro Vescovo, give the go at the Pan-Ikon project. With musicians Marco Ariano, Elio Martusciello, Gianfranco Tedeschi form in 2009 Xubuxue releasing in 2010, with Die Schachtel label, a CD-DVD entitled Elliptical fotopartiture per tre improvvisatori.
Elio Martusciello is an italian self taught musician and composer of experimental music and an electronic music teacher at the Conservatorio of Cagliari. His musical aesthetic derives essentially from acousmatic art, but he also composes for instruments and live electronics; He works too in art installations, multimedia, visual art and electroacoustic improvisation.
Marco Ariano is a drummer/percussionist, composer of improvised music, audiovisual artist, poet. He experiences with poetry-sound-stage writings and processes devices/strategies for music production. Founder / co-founder of groups linked to mixed and improvisational practices as Lenguefoco, Zeriletico, Opera Mutica, Dal Due, Xubuxue. He takes part in events and festivals in Italy and abroad (France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Spain, Portugal, UK, Turkey, Argentina, Mexico).
Gianfranco Tedeschi graduated in double bass and studied composition and analysis with B. Porena with whom he collaborated in his research and experimentation center. He studied orchestral arrangement with G. Gazzani. During his career he has played many different music genres collaborating on many projects with several Italian and foreign musicians.
